All of our cattle are Black Angus beef cattle. The Angus breed dates back to the 1873 when colonists brought this breed to Kansas from Scotland. This breed was introduced into America in order to have a herds of cattle that were polled (naturally without horns) and fast growing, in hopes to make hardier cattle herds.
This breed is well known for many of its fine qualities including but not limited to:
All of our cattle are naturally raised. Naturally raised cattle are on pasture 100% of the time. In addition to being pasture fed, they are also given hay and grain during the cooler months or any time that their nutritional needs are not met with a pure grass diet. All of the grain given to our cattle does not contain any added hormones, steroids, or antibiotics, ensuring that our cattle are 100% natural. By feeding our cattle grain, it gives the meat a very unique flavor that leaves many of our valued customers wanting more.
All of our cattle are raised in a rotational pasture pattern. At Zekiah Farms3, we have many different pastures that our cattle can graze on. Our cattle are rotated between pastures weekly to ensure that they have all of the grass that they can possibly eat readily available to them. During the winter months, or when the cows are about to calve, the cattle are brought closer to the barn in order to keep a closer eye on them and ensure that they all stay happy and healthy.
All of our cattle are processed at a USDA approved butchering facility that we have used since the farm began in 2000. When our cattle are taken to be processed, all of us at Zekiah Farms3 help to load our cattle onto our trailer and we personally drive them up to the butchering facility to ensure that they are comfortable on their way up. We do not use meat trucks or tractor trailers to haul our cattle.
At the butchering facility, our cattle are dry aged. Dry aging, often offered at higher end restaurants, makes for a more tender cut of beef in addition to reducing about 30% of the water weight commonly found in "grocery store" beef. Tastier meat AND more meat per pound, what's not to love about dry aging?
In addition, all of our beef is processed and packaged into individual retail cuts such as T-Bones, Filet Mignon, Ribeye, Burger, etc.
Cuts of meat such as Hot Dogs, Meat Sticks, and Jerky are Nitrate and Nitrite free.
Of course! Whether you want to purchase a quarter of a steer or a entire steer, we are happy to sell you bulk beef.

At Zekiah Farms3, we strive to provide all of our customers with a unique product that is safe, healthy, and tasty. All of our animals at Zekiah Farms3 are raised with daily, hands on attention and nothing short of the best care we could possibly give them. We assure our customers that our meat has no additives, antibiotics, hormones, steroids, etc.
All of our hogs are crossbred hogs. They have a variety of different breeds in their heritage including but not limited to: Hampshire, Berkshire, Yorkshire, Duroc, etc.
Our hogs are fed a combination of grass and ground corn. The hogs have 24/7 access to their food, allowing them to eat whenever they want and however much they want.
Our hogs are pasture raised much like our cattle. The hogs are kept in a fenced in field close to our barn so that they can come and go as they please. By pasture raising hogs, rather than keeping them in pens inside the barn, it allows them to get as much exercise as they want, even though most times they just sleep in the mud all day.
Our hogs are taken to a USDA approved butchering facility that has been used by this farm for years. The hogs are loaded onto our livestock trailer by all of us at Zekiah Farms3 and we personally trailer our hogs up to the butchering facility. This ensures that our hogs are comfortable during transport and that no issues arise.
All of our pork is processed in a way where no nitrates or nitrites are added to the meat. This eliminates the harsh preservatives that many people do not prefer in their meat. A large variety of our meats are also smoked prior to packaging, including but not limited to: ham, bacon, ham hocks, etc.
As always, any of our customers can buy a half or whole hog. Please call for more information on bulk sales at 204-216-4065.

All of our lambs are purebred or percentage Katahdins. Katahdins are a breed of sheep specifically used for meat. According to Susan Schoenian, Sheep & Goat Specialist form the UMD Extension, this breed is known for being very hardy, easy to maintain, and producing lean, meaty carcasses.
This breed of sheep is a hair breed, meaning that they have a very coarse hair, rather than wool. During the winter months the sheep will grow wool, however during the spring and summer months they will shed their wool, leaving behind their coarse, wiry, hair.
Katahdins are also known for their ability to lamb up to three times every two years, where most other breeds of sheep can lamb only one time a year.
All of our sheep are pasture raised. This means that the sheep are in the pasture to freely graze as they wish. In addition to getting plenty of grass, the sheep are also given hay and a grain mixture made specifically for our sheep. The grain mixture does not contain any added hormones, steroids, or antibiotics.
All of our lambs are pasture raised, meaning that they are out in a pasture 24/7. During the lambing season and or the winter months we will bring the lambs closer to the barn so that they have access inside if the weather is too cold.
Our lambs are trailered to a USDA approved butchering facility by all of us at Zekiah Farms3. The lambs are transported in our own livestock trailer to ensure they are comfortable during transport. After the lambs arrive at the butchering facility, they are processed and packaged into individual retail cuts.
Yes. We are able to accommodate bulk sales for lambs. We are also able to sell live lambs. For more information please call us at 240-216-4065.
All of the animals raised and sold by Zekiah Farms3 are 100% safe to eat. There are no added hormones, steroids or antibiotics in the meat that you are consuming.
Our chickens at Zekiah Farms3 are Red Rangers. These chickens are bred to be used for meat, rather than eggs.
Our chickens are free range, therefore they have an unlimited supply of grass 24/7. In addition to their grass, we also give our chickens grain. All of the grain given to our chickens does not have any added hormones, steroids, or antibiotics.
All of our chickens kept in chicken tractors. Chicken tractors are large enclosures on wheels that only a certain number of chickens are kept in. By using this chicken tractor, we are able to move the chickens to fresh grass daily, while making sure that they are protected from and predators that are on our farm such as foxes, coyotes, etc. These chicken tractors provide plenty of room for our chickens to free range during the day, while providing a secure place to sleep at night.
All of our chickens are processed locally here in Southern Maryland. After being processed, our chickens come back individually packaged whole. At this time they are not quartered, only cleaned and packaged.
Please call 240-216-4065 for inquiries regarding bulk sales of our chickens.
